Employment - PARALEGAL

PARALEGAL

Matthew F. Hart Law Inc.

Full-Time

Description

Matthew F. Hart Law Inc. is a growing law firm in Baddeck, Nova Scotia.  Our primary focus is on real property, estate management, and probate with a new focus on immigration, as our community is finding it difficult to find and retain qualified employees.  Recently, we have become the only law firm in Cape Breton designated as a Licensed Recruiter by the Province of Nova Scotia.  We are catering our immigration services to small businesses, assisting them in the hiring process of foreign workers and at the same time, providing exceptional legal services to assist foreign workers in their applications for work permits, family VISAs, etc.

Our environment is a key piece to our success and how we will continue to grow.  We will work with you to ensure you can thrive and be successful.  We are seeking an individual to join our team in our Baddeck office.

Despite being a small office, we offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including paid vacation, sick days, and personal days.

SUMMARY

In building our immigration services for small businesses, we assist our clients to navigate the AIP program or applications under LIMA, actively recruiting potential employees, and any other services they require.  In addition, we will help our employee clients with their applications, compile information and documentation, while maintaining open and transparent communications.  Everyday tasks will also include admin and clerical duties offering time to keep up to date with the existing legislation.  You will not be limited to immigration as a specific area and can grow your expertise in several of the other areas of law we currently practice.  We will provide the necessary training to ensure your success.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

We require the successful applicant to have a paralegal diploma or equivalent, and experience as an immigration paralegal is an asset.  As of February, we installed LEAP as our primary software, which provides document management and timekeeping, so we are all learning the details of this new system (replacing PCLaw).   Organization and file management is team focused as we meet daily to discuss files daily and monthly for full file reviews.  We know that everyone has their own path to success.  What works for one individual may not work for another.  We work with each employee to ensure their continued success.

EQUITY AND DIVERSITY

We understand the value that an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace brings to our people, our clients, and the communities we serve.  We welcome and encourage applications from everyone.
