Thrive Counselling and Consulting Inc. is a mental health therapy group practice located in the heart of Sydney, Nova Scotia. We are a team of therapists dedicated to providing caring, compassionate mental health therapy services to our clients.

We are seeking a dynamic, friendly, and organized individual to join our team as a Full-Time Office Manager. This key position serves as the first contact for many of our clients and the community, making it essential that you can communicate clearly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate referrals and complete the intake process.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the practice calendar.
  • Handle billing and payroll efficiently.
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of the practice.
  • Develop and implement procedures for effective business practices.
  • Provide support to the therapeutic team.
  • Report to the Practice Director

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.


  • Minimum: 2-3 years of experience in an administrative or office management role.


  • Experience in a healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Experience with billing, payroll, and scheduling.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and other office management software.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of or experience with practice management software.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Certifications (optional but advantageous):

  • Certified Office Manager (COM) or similar certification.
  • Certification in medical or healthcare administration.


  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Tech savvy with proficiency in office software.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Interest in learning about mental health, trauma, and healing.
  • Knowledge of mental health is an asset, but a strong interest in learning is essential.
  • Positive attitude and helpful nature.
  • Great team player with the ability to work independently.
