Cape Breton University (CBU) is looking for a Coordinator, Intramural Sports and Recreation in the department of Athletics and Recreation. This is a Full Time Role commencing as soon as October 7th 2024.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Manager of CBU Recreation Services, this role will play a key role in designing and executing inclusive recreation programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and community members. This role is responsible for the overall planning, operation, and maintenance of Athletics and Recreation facilities, focusing on optimizing space utilization and delivering a high-quality experience. The Coordinator will work primarily in the afternoons and evenings and will need to make independent decisions and exhibit strong leadership.

The Coordinator will manage the development, organization, and evaluation of various recreation programs, including intramural sports, tournaments, special events, and open recreation. This includes overseeing the recruitment, training, and evaluation of student staff and volunteers. They will work closely with the Manager to maximize facility usage and handle financial planning, including budgeting for programs, equipment, and staff. Additionally, the role involves managing IMLeagues for league and tournament administration, promoting diverse recreational activities, and ensuring effective communication with participants. The Coordinator will also oversee facility maintenance, develop risk management policies, and lead a student development program focused on practical learning outcomes.

The ideal candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Recreation, Kinesiology, or a related field and have 1-3 years of relevant experience. They should demonstrate strong organizational, time management, and planning skills, with a solid understanding of risk management and community recreation development. Excellent communication and promotional abilities, along with experience in marketing through various channels, are essential.
