Description
The duties for this position consist of water treatment & distribution; wastewater treatment and collection; plant operations and maintenance; as well as public works duties within the Village.
This position is
currently a part time position, which guarantees 21 hours per week. There is a
standard 6-month probationary period for this position. Medical benefits are available
to employees.
Basic Requirements
- Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid NS Driver’s License
- Proficient in computer use
- Self-sufficient & highly motivated, effective communication skills
- Be willing to work on call and on weekends.
- Water and Wastewater training and experience are considered an asset
- Ability to work with contractors and the general public.
- Adherence to all policies and by-laws
- This position will require employees to complete highly physically demanding tasks.
- Adhering to safe work practices and completing required training.
- General maintenance of equipment, buildings, vehicles and maintaining required maintenance documentation.
Water Operator/Wastewater Operator (Plant & Distribution System)
- Water meter reading and maintenance
- Water Treatment Plant operation/Wastewater Treatment Plant operation / distribution system and collection system maintenance
- Collect & sample water and wastewater
- Willingness to take required exams for water/wastewater treatment.
Village
- Village beautification duties – watering and maintaining flowers, lamp post maintenance. Lawncare, garbage collection, sidewalk maintenance(including winter maintenance)
