Description

No cider making experience is necessary. It is personality, initiative, attention to detail and work ethic we're looking for. 

The successful candidate will look forward to learning then doing:

  • As cider making is 90% cleaning, much of your time will be spent doing this. Following the highest standards of sanitation in all areas of the cidery: cleaning tanks (inside and out), pumps, packaging and testing equipment, floors, etc.
  • Preparing and pressing fruit.
  • Pitching yeast, and following recipes and fermentation techniques.
  • Managing ferments, racking tanks, filtrations, blending, barrel aging.
  • Working safely with various chemicals that are used for cleaning/sanitizing, and testing.
  • Working safely around C02 tanks.
  • Bottling, canning, kegging ciders.
  • Performing lab tests of juice, fermented ciders, and final products to maintain quality.
  • Reporting all batch work and movement into excel and EKOS software for tracking purposes.
  • Managing inventories as needed.
  • Operating a pallet jack (manual and electric).
  • Packing cider for NSLC pick-ups and others.
  • Occasional deliveries to local restaurants and pubs.
  • Innovation in the cidery.
  • Tasting and smelling juices, cider, wines to detect faults.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving equipment and fermentations.
  • Communicating with other staff.
  • Pitching in on tasks that are outside core responsibilities – for e.g. sales activities and events as production schedule allows.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about cider and flavour.
  • Enjoys working with their hands.
  • Is physically fit and capable of heavy lifting.
  • Is efficient, practical, trustworthy and safety conscious.
  • Is a perfectionist with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Has a willingness to go above and beyond / exceed expectations.
  • Is able to work with limited or no supervision and carry on with high standards.
  • Has their own transportation & a valid Driver’s License.
  • Is flexible and is able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Is a creative problem solver.
  • Doesn’t mind being cold & wet, and are OK with spending the day in rubber boots.
  • Are able to embrace change in a rapidly growing and changing business.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Job Type: Full-time 37.5 hours per week
  • Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
