What you'll do...
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will:
- Perform scheduled, preventive maintenance on any equipment/system not under contract agreement, by inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, and calibrating systems and ensuring equipment is in satisfactory working order.
- Respond to emergency service calls as directed to keep system downtime to a minimum.
- Analyze, trouble-shoot, repair, and restore equipment/systems to full operation and recommend revisions when necessary for improved system efficiency. Adjust, calibrate and replace components as necessary including CO2 sensors, temperature sensors and supplied controllers.
- Perform detailed operational and safety tests with standard, predictive, and high technology test equipment.
- Perform and/or direct the start-up and check-out of new remotes, I/O equipment, CPUs, and software installation.
- Determine system efficiencies by being part of or conducting scheduled effective energy audits and equipment/system surveys as assigned.
- Instruct and/or train staff in systems maintenance and operating procedures for Building Automation Systems.
- Assign Work Orders when required and act as back-up for the Facilities Manager on occasion.
- Provide safety related electrical training for facilities staff (i.e. Lock-Out, Tag-Out) as required.
- Operate building systems including energy management.
- Use/report current material/inventory in a responsible manner and recommend inventory requirements.
- Assist and direct contractors and other trades as required.
- Operate snow removal and grounds keeping tools and equipment as required.
- Maintain NSCC property and documentation in accordance with established policies. Handle proprietary information in the prescribed manner; adhere to and support Building Control policies and procedures, including all safety requirements.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
The minimum educational qualification for this position is interprovincial Journeyperson status in HVAC, Electrical Instrumentation Mechanics, Plumbing or recognized equivalency such as BES Level 2 or Power Engineering. BOMA Energy Training for Building Operations Certification would be considered an asset. Lift Operator Certification would also be considered an asset.
Certification in specific building control systems (i.e. Energy Building Integration (EBI) would be considered an asset.
Training in Warehousing Fundamentals would be considered an asset.
You have a minimum of 4 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in HVAC control, life safety, or related computer, security, mechanical, or electrical systems.
You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Megamation and email.
You have demonstrated experience providing maintenance duties.
You have demonstrated experience in computerized energy management systems and the ability to use test instruments.

You are able to perform all physical duties of the job as required for the operation and maintenance of the facilities and operation of small hand tools and shop equipment.
