Description

L’Arche Cape Breton is seeking a Finance Manager to work as a member of our Office Team to help ensure good communication and efficient running of the administration of L’Arche Cape Breton. They will sit on the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. 

 

Finance Manager Role Description

·       Day-to-day Financial Operations: Responsible for coordinating transactions such as invoicing and receiving payments and adjustments from funding sources (Department of Community Services, donors and foundations, and creditors), bill payments, monitoring of cash flow and investment balances, managing disbursement of food, vehicle operations, and drug/medical funds for all the houses, programs and the Community, receiving and approving financial requests from Community members, managing all necessary banking, completing and submitting annual insurance applications, and complying with all provincial and federal remittances and financial obligations.

·       Accounting and Reporting: Responsible for coordinating transactions such as keeping appropriate records of all revenues and expenditures (journal entries) of the organization, managing accounts receivable and payable, managing credit card use, managing payroll, utilizing financial technology systems, and preparing monthly and annual financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow).

·       Human Resource Support: Responsible for coordinating transactions such as managing payroll processes, coordinating withdrawals and remittances, preparing monthly and year-end reports and analyses, verifying T4s, preparing Records of Employment, and tracking enrollment and termination of employees on or off the medical plan and pension plan, in collaboration with the Assistants Coordinator.

·       Budget and Financial Planning: Prepares the annual budget for approval, ensures timely reconciliation and reporting of all financial statements, and prepares financial analyses for the Executive Director and the Board for financial planning and decision-making.

 

Ideal Qualities and Qualifications

·       Post secondary degree with training and experience in finance management/accounting considered an asset

·       Strong administrative and computer skills, proficiency in the use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, data bases and SAGE

  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently

·       Team spirit, ability to collaborate with a different set of stakeholders, members and colleagues

·       Ability to set priorities and follow-through in a timely way.

  • Good judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential information in a diplomatic, professional and tactful manner

·       Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

·       Commitment to or openess for the mission and vision of L’Arche
