Description

La Provence bakery is a small local owned business, that strives for quality products and a good atmosphere.

This is a part-time to full-time position year-around (25-40hr/week neg.) and training will be provided.

We are seeking a friendly cafe assistant/Barista (or goal to become a proficient Barista) to greet customers, take orders, prepare and serve beverages and food menu items and maintain our clean and organized workplace. 

The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job responsibilities of this position, but not limited to:

  • Entry-level role to support the daily operations of the café
  • Work with cafe team to achieve a daily seamless workflow
  • Serve customers (take orders, handling the till/payments, bring their dishes, flatware and other items to serving areas, clear tables, refill display… etc)
  • Perform other duties to assist baker(s) and team as needed
  • Prepare sandwiches and ingredients needed
  • Ensure that hygiene is maintained at all times as per safety/sanitation guidelines
  • Clean kitchen and work areas (clean tables, wash dishes, garbage, sweep, mop…etc)
  • Start with making simple drinks and be trained to use an espresso machine towards fully-trained Barista
  • Barista prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea and specialty drinks as well as gaining strong knowledge of brewing techniques in order to answer all customer questions in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in restaurant industry an asset
  • Experience in barista or similar role an asset
  • French food knowledge an asset
  • French speaker and/or another language an asset
  • References required
