About Rumi Guest House
Nestled on the scenic Cabot Trail in Englishtown, Nova Scotia, Rumi Guest House is a year-round destination for travelers who value nature, comfort, and authenticity. As we expand with new guest cabins and an on-site coffee shop, we’re looking for an Operations & Maintenance Manager to help shape our next chapter.
The Role
You’ll take the lead in daily operations and maintenance, introducing digital systems that make our work smarter, cleaner, and more sustainable. You’ll guide and support a small team, manage budgets with care, coordinate suppliers, and drive the building and expansion efforts that shape the future of our guesthouse. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends operational oversight with practical improvements to the property. Your work will directly transform ideas into real improvements for our staff, our guests, and our growing business.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and housekeeping
- Lead sustainability and expansion projects, including new cabins and the coffee shop.
- Recruit, train, and guide a small multi-functional team.
- Manage budgets, suppliers, and quality standards.
- Implement digital tools for reservations, maintenance tracking, and guest experience.
- Support marketing activities, including online and social media efforts (positioning us as an AI-forward frontrunner).
- Ensure guests enjoy a consistently warm and professional experience.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of experience in hospitality or operations management, including hands-on experience with building projects (coordinating contractors/builders)
- Experience in project management, including oversight of timelines, risks, budgets, and delivery
- College diploma (or equivalent experience) in Hospitality, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong organizational, leadership, and people-management skills
- Comfortable using and creating digital/AI systems and social-media tools for marketing, innovation, and building MVPs
- Solid financial acumen, including experience with sales, marketing and revenue management
- Valid driver’s licence and access to transportation
Language: English required; other European language considered an asset (German, Dutch, or other).
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, free parking, and on-site role (no remote work).
Come help us grow a modern, sustainable guesthouse experience on Cape Breton Island.
