Job Scope:
Reporting to the Centre Manager, the Activity Coordinator will coordinator the daily activities of the Centre and client support duties. The Activity Coordinator has a direct impact on the quality of Cairdeil Place's delivery of client services including planning and delivery of programs. At Cairdeil Place, life skills and social and recreational programming are delivered to a client population of adults over the age of 20 years old who have chronic mental health illness and who are living in the community.
Main Duties:
- Delivery of programs
- Performs daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance activities as directed
- Open and Close the Centre as required
- Maintain various daily reporting such as member logs
- Advocates for members as needed
- Maintains professional demeanor and appropriate professional relationships at all times while on duty or representing Cairdeil Place
- Performs other duties as required
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Knowledge of community and government resources for persons living with mental illness
- Ability to plan, prepare, and implement programs and activities
- Ability to build professional and supportive relationships
- Ability to deal effectively with the public, external agencies, and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work as part of a team or independently
Education and Experience:
- 1 year experience working in an activities related role
- Post Secondary education in social science, mental health, or relevant field
- Practical experience working with a diverse clientele with various needs
- Experience working in a mental health environment
- Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Qualifications:
- Emergency First Aid/Level A CPR/First Aid & AED Training
- Clear Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Compassion for persons living with Mental Illness
