Cape Breton University invites applications for the role of Simulated Patient Educator - Cape Breton Medical Campus this is a Full-Time Continuing role.
Dalhousie University and Cape Breton University are excited to announce the creation of the Cape Breton Medical Campus (CBMC), set to welcome its first cohort in 2025. CBMC aims to enhance healthcare in rural Nova Scotia by training future physicians and advancing interdisciplinary research.
The Simulated Patient Educator (SPE) will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based curriculum for medical learners, including students and residents. The SPE will lead the creation of effective simulation scenarios and manage the curriculum, ensuring the integration of best practices and evidence-based methodologies. This role involves overseeing the Volunteer Patient Program, recruiting and training simulated participants, and managing all aspects of simulation-based education, including resources and scheduling.
The SPE will design and evaluate simulation-based curricular programs, collaborating with faculty to align learning objectives with innovative instructional methods. Responsibilities include managing curriculum development, overseeing simulated patient materials, and ensuring ethical and safety standards are met. The SPE will handle project management tasks, including resource allocation, scheduling, and the administration of curricular events. Additional duties involve recruiting volunteers, establishing performance expectations, and contributing to simulation-based research and policy development.
Candidates should hold an undergraduate degree in a health professional field; a graduate degree in adult education or curriculum development is preferred. At least 7 years of experience in health/medical fields with project management and educational programming expertise is required. Proven knowledge in simulation-based learning, strong communication and project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are essential. Flexibility in working hours and a commitment to ongoing professional development in simulation methodology are also necessary.
