Trifos Design Consultants is an architectural and interior-design firm with extensive experience in the provision professional services to commercial and institutional clients.  The firm has been in operation since 1986, and is licensed to practice in the province of Nova Scotia, with the vast majority of projects located on Cape Breton Island.  Trifos Design Consultants’ project history includes small-, medium-, and large-scale projects, from all design sectors, with per-project construction costs as high as $20 million.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Architectural Technologists and Technicians provide technical assistance to professional architects and the architectural design team in conducting research, preparing CAD drawings and architectural BIM models, preparing architectural/technical specifications and construction contract agreements, and in the provision of field and office functions of construction-contract administration. 

 

DUTIES

  • Assist in the development of architectural designs.
  • Analyze building codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements and other technical documents and reports.
  • Prepare manual and computer-assisted design (CAD) drawings, specifications, cost estimates and listings of quantities of material from conceptual drawings and instructions.
  • Prepare contract and bidding documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals.
  • Supervise drafters, technicians and technologists on the architectural team.
  • Supervise construction projects and coordinate, monitor and inspect work done by others
  • Construct architectural and display models, and 3-D virtual models of architectural designs.
  • Preparation of working drawings, specifications, and presentation graphics/images/drawings. 
  • Execution of project/site observation. 
  • Preparation of quantity surveys and opinions of probable cost.
  • Completing requisite project forms, documentation, and other tasks common to architectural practice.

REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires a degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of work experience as an architectural technologist or a similar position. 
  • Effective ArchiCAD software skills and experience with Apple MacOS and iOS software, Adobe software, and cloud-based project-management software are required. 
  • The candidate must be able to work in a Team environment; possess excellent English oral and written communications skills; be bondable; and have a valid driver's license.
