City Print+ is looking for a Print Production Operator to join their team!

City Print + is Cape Breton’s hub for Print Work & Promotional Products. We’re proud to be a 100% Cape Breton-owned and operated business.  Since 1973, City Print + has been a leader in the print industry in Atlantic Canada. In 2017, we expanded with the launch of our promotional products and apparel division. Now offering a huge range of printing, signage, promotional products and branded apparel, our goal is to be a one-stop shop for our customers.

Reporting to the Production Supervisors, the Print Production Operator will be responsible for, but not limited to, reviewing client work orders, determining job specifications, preparing supplied files for printing, coordinating all aspects required for printing, and conducting print machine maintenance.


As the Print Production Operator, your key responsibilities include:

  • Review work orders and determine job specifications such as production time, color sequence, and quantities required.
  • Prepare supplied files for print.
  • Coordinate all aspects of printing.
  • Set up press and check samples for ink coverage, alignment and registration.
  • Monitor regular press runs for quality and consistency using computer control console and make adjustments as required.
  • Fill ink fountains and take measurements, make adjustments and determine settings to control color and viscosity.
  • Conduct print machine maintenance routinely.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Completion of a college program or certificate in Printing Technology, or similar commensurate experience is required.
  • Previous print production and graphic design experience is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional time-management skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and manage and execute assignments with minimal instruction.
  • Ability to work in all areas of print production such as graphics, printing, bindery/finishing, shipping and receiving.
  • Ability to troubleshoot print production machinery while adhering to safety requirements.
  • Fast and eager learner that can adapt to other print production systems quickly and efficiently.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.

  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (some flexibility provided)
