Position Overview:
IGNITE Atlantic is seeking a motivated and dynamic Cape Breton Community Connector to champion the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation ecosystem across Cape Breton. This individual will serve as a vital link between IGNITE and ecosystem partners, ensuring that Cape Breton startups receive tailored, effective support.
The Community Connector will lead efforts to strengthen community engagement, establish operational partnerships, and foster a cohesive entrepreneurial network. This role will be instrumental in advancing innovation and economic development.
Position will be remote based until Sydney location finalized. Once location is opened position will be expected to work from the Sydney office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishing a Continuous Feedback Loop
- Engage with founders across Cape Breton to understand their evolving needs, challenges, and opportunities.
- Maintain direct, consistent communication with entrepreneurs to ensure IGNITE and ecosystem partners support is responsive and relevant.
- Utilize established networks to gather insights and adapt support mechanisms accordingly.
- Cultivating Operational Partnerships
- Build and nurture relationships with key regional institutions, including Cape Breton University, Nova Scotia Community College, and the Verschuren Centre.
- Leverage these partnerships to facilitate access to resources, enhance collaboration, and foster innovation.
- Act as a bridge between startups and key partners to create a seamless support system.
- Connecting Entrepreneurs
- Organize and host networking events, workshops, and cross-industry collaborations.
- Foster a cohesive entrepreneurial community where founders can share ideas, expertise, and resources.
- Promote cross-sector collaborations to empower entrepreneurs and support their growth journeys.
- Investing in Regional Needs
- Identify and address opportunities and challenges unique to Cape Breton’s startup ecosystem.
- Implement inclusive practices that ensure equitable support for all entrepreneurs and industry partners, fostering participation across diverse demographics, including underrepresented groups.
- Implement tailored solutions to support youth, industry partnerships, and innovation.
- Monitor the effectiveness of support mechanisms and adjust them to meet the region’s evolving needs.
- Partner Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and support organizations.
- Actively participate in networking opportunities to enhance partner organizations reach and impact.
- Brand Building
- Strengthen the IGNITE brand through partnerships, cooperation, and community outreach initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to elevate IGNITE’s and partner organizations profiles within the entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in a senior operational role, ideally within a startup or entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration and innovation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Demonstrated experience in budget development and financial planning.
- Experience securing funding and managing grant applications is a plus.
