Reporting
directly to the Manager of Philanthropy of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital
Foundation, the Donor Engagement Officer is responsible for helping to advance
the mission of the Foundation, eliminating barriers to care.
The Donor Engagement Officer generates
philanthropic support through the relationship management and support of third-party
contributors and volunteers to ensure the successful execution of the
Foundation’s third-party program. The Donor Engagement Officer also oversees the Foundation’s
annual Radio Day.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fundraising
- Manage a portfolio of relationships and prospects primarily focused on third-party donors, sponsors, and events.
- Assist external organizations and individuals on their fundraising efforts, serving as the primary contact for various third-party initiatives.
- Utilize fundraising strategies to include the donor lifecycle for the recruitment, retention and upgrading of existing third-party donors.
- Provide presentations to community-based groups and organizations for the purpose of information sharing and recruitment.
- Be the key personnel to oversee the execution of annual fundraising events like Radio Day.
- Contribute in a collaborative and productive manner to Foundation-wide fundraising programs and initiatives.
- Work closely with Foundation colleagues to share knowledge, resources and optimize opportunities for donors.
- Create and execute a customized stewardship plan to effectively steward new and existing donors.
- Other assignments and special projects as assigned.
Communications and Marketing
- Lead all website, social media, and graphic design for third-party fundraisers and other designated annual events.
- Develop impact reporting for the stewardship and engagement of third-party events and fundraisers.
- Create and implement appropriate sponsorship fulfillment for a variety of sponsors and donors.
Volunteer Management
- Recruit, schedule and lead Foundation volunteers for a wide range of community and Foundation events.
- Create a Volunteer Ambassador program to include stewardship and recognition.
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:
- Demonstrated ability to work in an empowered, fast-paced, team-focused environment.
- Understanding of fundraising/development/stewardship practices and principles.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently but collaboratively.
- Ability to learn new technology and tools such as TeamRaiser.
- Ability to multi-task and work within a complex environment.
- A proven track record of success in relationship building, account management and solicitation.
- Ability to work with external stakeholders and capacity to deal effectively with a wide range of relationships and situations.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Community awareness and interest, particularly concerning the charitable sector.
- Local travel required.
- Valid Drivers’ License and reliable vehicle.
