Title: Marketing & Communications Specialist

Position: Full-Time Permanent (35hrs/week)

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 8:30AM – 4:30PM, hybrid schedule with one work from home day every Thursday, with some evening and weekend commitments when required.

Job Location: Sydney, NS

Proposed Start Date: As soon as possible

Compensation Package: Annual salary starting at $55,000, negotiable based on knowledge and experience. Two (2) weeks’ vacation plus paid time off between Christmas and New Years, summer flex time on Fridays (July and August), paid sick time, health and dental benefits, access to a YMCA corporate membership, professional development and more!

Reporting to the Marketing & Client Relations Manager, the Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for, but not limited to, coordinating media strategies, executing campaigns, maintaining lasting client relationships and supporting day-to-day account operations. This individual will work closely with the creative team and partners to ensure successful delivery of client marketing and communications materials, meeting client goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Core Accountabilities:

  • Media & Public Relations: Build relationships with local and national media, writing stories that spark interest.
  • Social Media Management: Create and schedule content for project clients when necessary. Ensure social media strategies are being executed for all clients. Assist the Marketing Coordinator with client visits when necessary.
  • Influencer Marketing: Suggest and coordinate with influencers when appropriate to enhance client social media and brand awareness.
  • Copywriting: Create radio and TV scripting as well as copy for print, digital, email and web materials.
  • Campaign Creation: Assist with campaign creation and idea generation for project and retainer clients.
  • Reporting: Create monthly social media reports for all clients. Work with the Marketing & Client Relations Manager to suggest new ideas to increase performance. Provide regular updates to the Anchored Ideas team.
  • Relationships: Maintain client relationships and support coworkers and clients on campaigns and projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the team and collective goals of the Anchored Group.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or similar is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in a marketing and communications role is required.  
  • Have a passion for marketing and communications, creating stories that target audiences and are able to adjust content to various mediums.
  • Have previous experience exceeding KPIs and researching best strategies to consistently outperform previous client campaigns.
  • Have exceptional writing and editing skills for a diverse range of purposes and formats, including print, online, interactive, and social media.
  • Are a self-starter with the ability to dive in and take charge.
  • Are able to coordinate and plan each day with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Are able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while being able to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Are able to provide a high degree of professionalism, integrity and confidence when representing the Anchored Group.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms.
  • Have exceptional communication (written and oral), interpersonal, and client-facing skills.
  • Have strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
  • Are a flexible and reliable team player, with the ability to work independently. 
  • Are able to provide a clear criminal record check.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
