The School of Nursing at Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for a 1 (one) Year Limited Term Faculty position in the Department of Foundational Nursing. This position will commence May 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. We are looking to continue to build upon our talent in our expanding Nursing programs and are searching for a talented individual who have real passion for making an impact in their field.

The department of nursing is seeking progressive, energetic candidates with a commitment to excellence in concept-based nursing practice education. The primary position responsibility will be to instruct, supervise, and evaluate nursing students in a variety of nursing practice settings including acute care, long term care, community, as well as on-campus nursing simulation, and/or laboratory instruction.
Successful candidates will have:
- An undergraduate/graduate degree in nursing (i.e. BScN, MN);
- A completed PhD or other Doctoral degree in a health-related field (preferred) or education;
- Candidates with a relevant Master’s degree in a health-related field, professional accreditation equivalent to a Master’s degree, or who have completed all the requirements for a relevant PhD but for an unfinished dissertation, may be considered for the rank of Lecturer
- A minimum of five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse;
- An active practicing unrestricted RN license with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (or be eligible for) prior to commencement of this position;
- Experience teaching, mentoring, and/or preceptoring nursing students would be an asset.
Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous peoples and African Nova Scotians or those with African Canadian descent. Applicants are encouraged to self-identify in the online application form.
CBU teaches programs on campus, off campus in locations across and outside of Canada, and on-line. The university and its partners will therefore provide opportunities for faculty members to teach in different modes in different locations as part of their regular workload. While these opportunities may not be available equally for all faculty positions in all programs, a clear willingness to teach in different modes and locations will be noted as part of your application.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential and commitment with regard to teaching, research/creative/scholarly activities and service to Cape Breton University, community and profession.
