Description
ACAP Cape Breton is seeking candidates for election to the organization's volunteer board of directors. The Board of Directors provide important oversight, strategy and governance in service of the mission of ACAP Cape Breton. The following are requirements for service on the board.
- Resident of Cape Breton-Unama'ki
- A member of ACAP Cape Breton or willing to sign up as a member
- Willing and able to serve a two-year term starting in September 2025 until September 2027
- Willing and able to commit to regular meeting attendance through a hybrid model during evening and/or lunchtime hours.
- Willing and able to actively participate in board meetings, subcommittee meetings, the AGM (Annual General Meeting), and board training.
- Willing and able to engage in ACAP fundraising activities when required.
- Willing and able to commit to joining at least one subcommittee of the board
- Committed to adhering to the ACAP Cape Breton goals and values.
Note: This is a volunteer position. ACAP Cape Breton is a governance and policy board, meaning that the operation of the organization is delegated to the Executive Director, who is the only employee of the Board.
Board Composition
The ACAP Cape Breton board consists of up 12 volunteer directors, who are elected or re-elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), planned for September 2025. Board of director terms are two years. The Recruitment Committee of the Board recommends a slate of members for (re)election, which is approved by the board, then brought to the membership for vote at the AGM.
The Board of Directors elects from its own members an Executive team of four: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
