Job Purpose
The Workshop Facilitator enables group learning sessions designed to lead to enhanced employment related knowledge and skill acquisition. They use Adult Learning Principles to tailor group activities towards meeting specific career-life planning needs for diverse client groups. It is paramount that the Workshop Facilitator demonstrate cultural humility and embrace inclusive practices, creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
In support of our mandate, team and clients, the Workshop Facilitator will:
- Educative and develop
participant skills by facilitating workshops on a range of topics including
effective job search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation,
networking, life skills, employability skills, etc.;
- Implement instruction techniques that are suitable for a variety of leaning styles while maintaining sensitivity to the diverse needs and abilities of participants;
- Learn and apply new technology to better support the learner and maximize reach and access;
- Evaluate results and outcomes;
- Maintain client files in web-based application while complying with privacy protocols;
- Actively participate in mandatory team meetings;
- Participate in program and service development that is responsive to the evolving needs of clients – ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency, and;
- Become familiar with other roles within the organization and support, as required.
Qualifications
- Degree or post-secondary education in Adult Education or related field of study or a combination of education and work-related experience;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills - experience working with cloud computing and collaborative tools (e.g. Teams), considered an asset;
- Experience with audio and video conferencing tools (e.g. Zoom) and course authoring software, considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and tasks.
- Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in the handling of confidential information;
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in the resolution of issues, process improvement and evaluation;
- High level of initiative is needed to work independently and respond to unanticipated items;
- Strong communication and presentation skills, and.
- Schedule flexibility to accommodate variations outside of regular business hours, as needed.

Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/ Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check. They will also be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training, as well as successfully complete First Aid and CPR training. Travel will be required.
