Join our Therapeutic Recreation team at the Cove Guest Home as a Care Navigator and help shape a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community for our residents, families, and volunteers!

Reports to: Director of Therapeutic Services

Status: Non-union

The Details:

  • The Care Navigator works 3 days per week (48 hours bi-weekly).
  • Salary range of $44,000 - $46,000.
  • Paid time off.
  • Eligible for Health Benefits and Pension Program.

You’ll support residents, families, and volunteers by guiding therapeutic programming, fostering community partnerships, and championing emotional well-being.

You’ll become a vital part of our multidisciplinary team, helping ensure each resident’s journey is filled with dignity, purpose, and joy.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct initial recreation assessments during admissions, explain Therapeutic Services offerings, and direct questions to the appropriate department.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, placement and orientation.
  • Suggest and implement therapeutic recreation strategies.
  • Monitor resident behaviour and progress.
  • Provide emotional support to residents and families.
  • Connect with community resources and partners.
  • Assist and lead recreation programs.
  • Ensure resident safety at all times.
  • Document resident progress and interactions, maintain records, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Work closely and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to family members and answer questions or direct to appropriate department.
  • Engage in ongoing education and professional development.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Post-secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation from a recognized institution.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team or independently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to handle unexpected issues and concerns.
  • Knowledge of behavioural management techniques, principles and coping strategies.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • A clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is required – your integrity and trustworthiness matter to us.
  • A functional assessment (organized later) to ensure you’re ready for the physical aspects of the role.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Intermittent stretching, reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
