Description

United Paving & Asphalt is looking for an experienced financial controller to join our team.

Job Summary
As the Financial Controller, you will play a role in overseeing and managing all aspects of financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss reports, and cash flow statements.
  • Manage budgeting and forecasting processes, working closely with ownership to ensure financial goals are met.
  • Lead year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial records are timely and accurately completed.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage the audit process.
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial data across all platforms and accounting systems.
  • Collaborate with ownership to develop financial strategies to support business objectives.
  • Collaborate with departments to develop timely and accurate job costing models for large scale projects.
  • Initiate & maintain contracts, including but not limited to insurance, utilities, and union contracts.
  • Manage & reconcile inter company financials.
  • Oversee monthly remittances- Payroll, HST, Workers Compensation, & Union reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Experience in financial management or a related field.
  • Experience in paving, concrete, or the construction industry is preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles laws & regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong time management skills.
